The Human Reproduction and Genetic Institute
(Instituto de Reproducción
Humana y Genética or IRHUGE) has a gamete laboratory
where the ovule fertilization takes place. It also has
an Operating Room for the process of suction and "in-vitro" transference,
as well as for the intracitoplasmatic inyection of the
spermatozoid into the ovule.
An Andrology Lab is also part of the Institute, where the
male factor tests take place.
IRHUGE belongs to the Latin-American Assisted
Reproduction Network. There are 27 Assisted Reproduction
Centres in Mexico, six of which, IRHUGE included, are certified.
The Gamete Intra Fallopian Transfer
(GIFT), the ´in
vitro´ fertilization and pre-embrionic transfer
are two invasive techniques, being that they both require
the direct ovule suction from the ovarian follicles.
These procedures have to take place in the proper Operating
Room.
These techniques imply on the side
ovule manipulation, which requires a well- equiped Gamete
Laboratory in order to bring the ovules and the pre-embrions
similar environmental conditions to those found in the
woman's body. The material needed during the process
is disposable, used once and then destroyed.
